Biography
Ethan grew up in Minnesota and earned a B.S. in Chemistry at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. He worked in Dr. Kate Buettner's lab designing and characterizing de novo mini-metalloenzymes to improve the stability and applicability of hydrolysis-prone metals including titanium and vanadium. In summer 2024, he worked in Dr. Alison Altman’s lab at Texas A&M University as part of the NSF Center for the Mechanical Control of Chemistry REU program to synthesize heterobimetallic complexes using mechanochemical conditions. At UMN, Ethan volunteers for SciMentors, a program to teach science concepts to Minneapolis adult learners, and also enjoys dog sitting, backpacking, and biking.
